Hoping

This song is to be sung quietly and gently. It is, as the
Rainbow Family would describe it, a heartsong.

Hoping for some changes, changes in the times.
Hoping that people will finally change their minds.
Hoping we'll stop exploiting and learn to respect the earth.
Hoping we'll work to save and replenish Mother Earth.

People all want more wealth, taken from Mother Earth.
And our population keeps growing, birth after birth.
And the war machine it rumbles on whether we need it or not.
But far too few people think about the price of all we've got.

Our resources are limited, our consumption is not.
We all pretend that our resources never will run out.
We're using up our topsoil, and our oil too.
In 50 or 60 years, what are we gonna do?

Hoping for some changes, changes in the times.
Hoping that people will finally change their minds.
Hoping we'll stop exploiting and learn to respect the earth.
Hoping we'll work to save and replenish Mother Earth.

- All my relations.  [Native American prayer.]
